2008 PACK-TRIP ITINERARY

Trip #1:  SUN RIVER VALLEY TRIP  

 

June 25 - 29  (5 days on the trail) *FILLED*

 

Our first pack-trip of the season is designed to maximize opportunity for wildlife watching with

emphasis placed on day rides and hiking in the early summer range of elk, deer, and bighorn sheep.

The Sun River  Valley is unique for its expansive meadows rimmed by snow-capped peaks.

 

Trip #2:  NORTH FORK OF THE SUN TRIP

 

July 8 - 13  (6 days on the trail) *FILLED*

 

We'll visit the North Fork of the Sun River and camp along Glenn Creek for the first two days, and then

move camp to the Biggs Creek area.  Each day offers trout fishing opportunities and new trails to explore.

 

Trip #3:  CHINESE WALL LOOP TRIP

 

July 18 - 24  (7 days on the trail) *FILLED*

 

This trip visits the "Chinese Wall", a majestic and rugged 12 mile section of the Continental Divide.
Making a loop, we travel up to the Chinese Wall and ride beneath the splendor of this spectacular
rock formation. Excellent opportunities for exploring the surrounding areas and for trout fishing.
 
 

Trip #4:  CHINESE WALL/MOOSE CREEK TRIP

 

August 1 - 7  (7 days on the trail) *FILLED* 

 

This trip is also visits the famous Chinese Wall and travels into the Sun River valley area, and then climbs

to the Chinese Wall, staying at the mouth and head of Moose Creek.  Great fishing and scenic opportunities.

 

Trip #5:  BIGGS CREEK EXTRAVAGANZA 

 

August 15 - 20  (6 days on the trail)

 

Camping along Glenn Creek and then moving up to the mouth of Biggs Creek in the North Fork 

of the Sun River Valley, this trip takes advantage of the scenic river bottoms for great fishing opportunity.

Layover days offer spectacular day rides to Beartop Lookout or Gates Park. 

 

Trip #6:  INDIAN SUMMER TRIP

 

August 30 - September 5 (7 days on the trail)

 

The Sun River Elk herd is over 2000 in number and in September, the fall breeding season begins.

We head west to see first hand the elk dynamics and other wildlife with the backdrop of the high country. Layover days are filled with fishing, hiking, interpretive day rides, or just plain relaxing in a peaceful setting.

 

 ** We reserve the right to change itinerary for reasons beyond our control such as forest fires, weather, rider ability, unforseen circumstances. 5 guest minimum per trip. **

Guests need to arrive at the Ranch in the late afternoon the day before their trip departs. We provide dinner and lodging at the Ranch, and your adventure will begin early the next morning. We arrive back at the Ranch mid afternoon on the final trail day. Dinner and lodging are included; departure is after breakfast the following morning.
