Bob Marshall Wilderness pack-trips are limited in number and size each year in coodination with the Forest Service and Wilderness rules. Many trips have been reserved by prior guests wanting a customized trip. These trips are not advertised, so this itinerary is not a complete list. The 2021 pack-trip season is currently full and the 2022 pack-trip itinerary will be posted by late August. Please contact us if you would like to be added to this list.

JULY 24-AUGUST 1, 2021
     PRICE: 3400 + tax 

Traveling into the Sun River valley area, these high-country trips climb to the famous Chinese Wall, a majestic and rugged 12-mile section of the Continental Divide. With camps along the banks of the Sun River, we’ll explore the splendor of this spectacular rock formation. We'll also explore the meadow strewn country by horseback on layover days. Fishing, hiking and riding opportunities abound.

AUGUST 15-21, 2021
PRICE: $2550 per person + tax

The perfect amount of time to rough it in the wilderness! Enjoy the first 3 nights/2 days experiencing ranch life with all the comforts in your private cabin, superb western gourmet meals in the lodge. Explore the scenic area around the ranch as you become comfortable with your horse. On Wednesday, we’ll head by horseback into the backcountry of the Bob Marshall Wilderness, spending 2 nights camping along the North Fork of the Sun River. This spectacular mountain valley is rimmed by mountain peaks, wildflower meadows and trout filled streams. Thursday offers day rides, hiking or fishing in the wilderness and hiking to look for elk in the evening. On Friday, we’ll take all day to return to the ranch on a different trail over Elk Hill. There will be stories to tell as we celebrate over a steak dinner.

AUGUST 22-28, 2021
PRICE: $2550 per person + tax

This loop pack-trip heads north out of the Ranch into the beautiful Deep Creek area in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. We ride 13 miles over Blacktail Creek pass through aspens, lodgepole pine and spruce trees with frequent scenic vistas and wonderful meadows. The following layover day offers great riding to the mouth of Deep Creek overlooking the plains on the Rocky Mountain Front. Day 3 moves camp west deeper into the wilderness another 12 miles to the Sun River valley, camping next to Biggs Creek for the next 2 nights.This spectacular wide-open mountain valley is rimmed by mountain peaks that look to the Continental Divide and is home to the Sun River elk herd and other wildlife.Biggs Creek offers fantastic fishing, hiking, or a scenic day ride to Bear Top Fire Look-out. Friday takes us through the North Fork of the Sun River valley, riding to the top of Elk Hill where you can see for miles, and then along Gibson Lake, arriving back to the Ranch in the late afternoon. There will be stories at dinner tonight!

*  We have the right to change day to day itinerary based on unforeseen circumstances, weather, forest fires, rider ability, etc.  Due to the nature of horseback riding in the wilderness, participants MUST be in good physical condition and trips are not recommended if many health or physical issues or if you require a special diet. While we carry a satellite phone for emergencies, it is very difficult to bring someone out from a trip to seek medical attention. The emergency helicopter is costly and is for emergencies only. *
